Yon minions, haven't you been thinking to yourselves that it's been FAR too long since I became obsessed with some random thing, like watching all the Friday the 13th movies, or collecting outdated analog equipment, or Alec Baldwin?
WELL. It's funny you should ask. There's a new craze in Sarahland, and for the record, I didn't see it coming any better than you did.
And just in time for the Olympics.
(Watching it, not doing it, by the way. Universal Sports has been playing a ton of the competition leading up to Vancouver--the Nagano Grand Prix, Cancer.net Skate America--and I don't know why really, but I've been watching skating pretty much every night. I really don't know why I wasn't ever interested in it before.
And in retrospect, you know, we should actually have seen this coming. Do you guys know how many times I have seen The Cutting Edge?)

I'll give you some time to guess.

This was a phrase that I came across in the reading for my women's studies class this week, and I SWEAR TO GOD, I spent a good minute or so wondering if three-year-olds could actually get pregnant, or if that was a typo, or what. "Because I Don't Know"
May Swenson
Because I don’t know you, I love you:
warm cheeks, full lips, rich smile,
dark irises that slide to the side,
thick lashes, thick hair, gleaming
teeth and eyes, your hand in greeting
warmer than mine, wider in blue shirt,
rolled sleeves, in dark jeans belted –
I liked your robust shoulders, wide neck and
tipped-up chin. That glow is blood
under skin that’s warm to begin with,
almost dusky, the red showing
through—of health, of youth—but more:
your open, welcome, I-could-hug-you look.
We met once or twice, exchanged smiles:
your lips curl-cornered to my thin,
crooked grin; your easy, laughing eyes
to my sharp star. Did it pierce you
there, my look of hunger, like a hook?
I wanted only a sniff, a tongue-tip’s
taste, a moment’s bath in your rare
warmth. That last night, trading
goodbyes, when we kissed—or you did, me—
my hand took your nape, plunged under
the thick spill of your hair. Then
I stepped into the dark, out of the light
of the party, the screen door’s yellow
square sliding smaller and smaller behind
me. You’ve become a dream of ripe
raspberries, in summer country: deep, dark
red lip, clean, gleaming generous smile.
Who owns you? I don’t know. I’ll hide you
away in my dream file. Stay there. Don’t
change. I don’t know you—and had better
no. Because I don’t know you, I love you.

GUY WHO ANSWERS PHONE: Hello, mumble humble mumble mumperdinck.
ME: Hi, I'd like to reserve two tickets for Sunday's matinee of "Fat and Sassy II"
GWAP: You have the wrong number. This is a cleaning company. (Hangs up.)
ME: Why could I have not been trying to reserve tickets for something else, like "Long Day's Journey Into Night," or...ANYTHING ELSE?
I still have high hopes for "Fat and Sassy II" though. Oh, you have NO idea.

OK, I changed my "search" setting. Hopefully people can find me now.
Would someone please let me know if you can find me now?
It's getting so frustrating bc there are people here and at work that I want to friend, but if I can't find them, there is no hope of them finding me.

i'm being cheated quite a bit on my rent! i don't know if i should be pissed off at the situation. it's not like i'm busting my butt to make rent or anything. I agreed to pay the amount I'm currently paying, so why am I kind of pissed now? Should I say anything? I know I won't be able to find much cheaper rent, unless I find people to move into a new place... but that requires a deposit, a lease, and all that not-fun stuff.
what do you think?
numbers: i pay 400.00 a month for my own large room. I think everyone else is paying 250 a month (even Chase who is in the master bedroom with attatched bathroom). One might be paying even less than that, but he's only here 2 times a month, so who cares?
What do you think?
more numbers: I make 10.50 an hour. I work about 33 hours a week. I make about 1200.00 a month.
gah! I need opinions!

I ordered the Macbook today. I am very excited to get a compact, little computer. I mean, i love my first generation Powermac G5, but it's from 2003 and very old now. I'm sad to think that I might not ever use it again?!?! I hope that's not the case though. I'm excited!!
With that said, Sharylon gave me the check for 835.00 for the painting i did for her and Randy! I am so lucky to have crossed paths with this wealthy family!
Also! I bought the PERFECT dresser off of craigslist. 5 drawers, off white, old, and 50 bucks! This is the first piece of furniture that I own that I can't carry in my car! I'm not sure how i feel about that. I liked the mobility of everything before. Oh well! Now I'm a bit more grounded, I guess!
I guess that's all? I'm boring! I like my boring life though. I need to think of an idea for a painting. an actual idea! And i'm always looking for penpals to send thoughts and doodles to.

"Letter Home"
Ellen Steinbaum
I love you forever
my father's letter tells her
for forty-nine pages,
from the troopship crossing the Atlantic
before they'd ever heard of Anzio.
He misses her, the letter says,
counting out days of boredom, seasickness,
and changing weather,
poker games played for matches
when cash and cigarettes ran out,
a Red Cross package--soap,
cards, a mystery book he traded away
for The Rubaiyyat a bunkmate didn't want.
He stood night watch and thought
of her. Don't forget the payment
for insurance, he says.
My mother waits at home with me,
waits for the letter he writes day by day
moving farther across the ravenous ocean.
She will get it in three months and
her fingers will smooth the Army stationery
to suede.
He will come home, stand
beside her in the photograph, leaning
on crutches, holding
me against the rough wool
of his jacket. He will sit
alone and listen to Aïda
and they will pick up their
interrupted lives. Years later,
she will show her grandchildren
a yellow envelope with
forty-nine wilted pages telling her
of shimmering sequins on the water,
the moonlight catching sudden phosphorescence,
the churned wake that stretched a silver trail.

FLESH.
Life since we last left off...
Actually, this happened before Boston Comic Con, but I forgot to mention it: Went to JoJo's birthday party! It was her "golden birthday" [turning 22 on the 22nd of October!], so I made her a gold birthday bow ♥ I ate lots of delicious food, but had to retire early since I was sick that entire week, bleh.
Celebrated Halloween on Earth-2 with Andrew! Went to a Halloween party, watched lots of movies, went to a tiny con, and played Lego Rock Band [before it was released OMG]. It was a really nice way to conclude my 1.5 months of Halloween madness n_n
I've officially finalized all of the travel plans for my business conference trip, which I've been referring to as BUSI-CON 2009. I'm even going to cosplay as Lois Lane*...
Otherwise, I've been semi-MIA socially, aside from hanging out with Alicia and Jake; been catching up on sleep and reading, and hoping to start on my non-costume-related projects. Somehow, I missed the notice where I was apparently still busy with lots of other things after the month of October. Luckily, they're mostly fun-busy things, but still - I need go find an available weekend to go to NYC/BK so I can go shopping. Anyway, I apologize in advance for any flaking out on my part.
Metric show coming up next week [free tickets, woo!], Thanksgiving the next week, and my 5-year high school reunion is on Black Friday... and then it's like, December already, right? Eep!
Oh, and I'm semi in charge of a *TOP SECRET MISSION*. I'm kind of freaking out [in a good way]. That's all I can publicly disclose for now, and all of the parties seem pretty interested, so I'm pretty optimistic. Okay, I'm going to shut up about this and not jinx all of us.
Conclusively, I've survived through Halloween. +100XP AWESOMESAUCE.
( WEREWOLF BAR MITZVAH )
*... NOT Superwoman. Though I'm sure I'd make an impression on the other business professionals, to say the very least.
