film request
i've been a downloadin' fool lately! recommend something to me!

* i like films that're: old, black and white, bizarre, fantastical, involve a lot of killing, have badass mustachio'd men, involve homosexuality (blatant or subtle), are foreign, have chicks with awesome hair, gratuitous sex scenes, period pieces, unforgiving view of humans, have ghosts, aliens, or monsters, cult classics, zombies, comedies that are so dumb that most people don't realize how clever they are (read: airplane!, the three amigos, walk hard), animals that talk, have a fascinatingly ugly main character, where everyone dies, dystopian futures, long and ridiculously elaborate dance scenes, superheroes, gruff lone wolf main characters

**
i DON'T like/don't need to see: 85% of disney films, ANY movie that ends with marriage/engagement, teen sex comedies, most musicals, any movie that involves a lot of fast shiny cars zipping around, slasher films, anything with nicholas cage.

"Wild Reeds" (french film) kind of sweet but it's french and really cool.
"Stealing Beauty" Bernardo Bertalucci directs also sweet but interesting & unique don't let the cover fool you.
"Cinema Paradiso" Italian
"Johnny Stecchino" Italian, hilarious and random
"Delicatessen" twisted
"The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada" tweaked, unusual, funny,
"The Celebration/Festen" Danish- dark & tweaked out by Thomas Vinterberg
"The Idiots" Lars von Trier dark, tweaked, funny? weird.
"The Prestige" Magicians, dark and sinister story line. awesome.

These are all awesome films but I'm guessing the ones you might like best would be "The Celebration", "The Idiots" and "The Three Burials..." :)

The Big Bird Cage or I think the other one is called the Big Dollhouse. Female sexploitation films, but fucking hilarious and they star Pam Grier pre-Foxy Brown.

I also forgot to mention some other favorites: City of God for drugs and violence (a lot of it), and Old Boy if you haven't seen it already. Just prepare for subtitles. They're def. Worth it though.

I'm going to keep an eye on this entry for recommendations because I think most of our interests are colliding here when it comes to movies......

I'm not sure if you've mentioned seeing these before but I'll recommend

THE MAN WHO LAUGHS
NOSFERATU
someone recommended FREAKS to me I haven't seen it yet myself but it's a b/w movie about circusfreaks with genuine actors so it's guaranteed to be great!

MIRRORMASK, THE FALL and THE CELL are my favourite movies ever

BIG FISH is amazing too. Also BACK TO THE FUTURE-TRILOGY!!

I also like ICHI THE KILLER, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, THUMBSUCKER and LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE

Ps do YOU have any recommendations?

also I'm adding MIND GAME (my favourite animated film EVER) + FOUR-EYED MONSTERS to the list

and a finnish movie called Pahat Pojat is pretty neat, our movies are very rough and straightforward so you might like it. I've only seen it once (when it came out) so I can't remember if it was actually good but it might be interesting to you..??

Also Kuutamolla is a finnish chickflick.. it might be refreshing from american ones. I didn't like it much because the genre isn't close to my heart but when compared to american chickflicks, it's pretty brilliant and even artsy. Again I'm not sure because I don't remember that well ROFL but I feel the need to pimp some finnish flicks even if I haven't seen much of them.

this is also an adorable movie
